05/11/2025 08:30 AM - 10:30 AM PT
Description
"Ask a birder" at Corn Creek in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge (DNWR) provides you with the chance to talk with a birder from Red Rock Audubon Society and DNWR. The Desert National Wildlife Refuge is the largest wildlife refuge in the lower 48 states and totals a vast 1.6 million acres. It encompasses six mountain ranges that includes seven distinct life zones and boasts over 500 plant species and 320 bird species. The Corn Creek area is home to a perennial spring that has flowed for thousands of year providing lush vegetation and habitat for wildlife.
The Ask a Birder station will be set up in the breezeway in front of the visitor center. Through the duration of these two hours you can find a volunteer and staff member set up with optics and a table to talk to you about birds and their habitats. This is a great chance to learn about finding birds and wildlife, to practice observing and listening, using field guides to identify birds, and talk to people that may consider themselves brand new birders and naturalist. Make sure to bring proper foot wear to hike, plenty of water, and sunscreen.
No registration needed to attend, just show up during the hours noted above.
